Diego graduated from Leon University (Spain) in 2011. After qualifying Diego carried out 2 years of rotating internship in the Veterinary Hospital of Leon University. He then went on to work as a surgeon in several practices whilst studying for his PhD, which he got in 2017. Between 2017-2018 he did a specialty internship in surgery at one of the leading hospitals in Spain, after this he was the head of soft tissue surgery, endoscopy and minimal invasion in one private practice in Salamanca, Spain.
Diego has a Postgraduate Diplomate in Small Animal Surgery and Anaesthesia (PGDip SAS) and a University Specialist Degree in Endoscopic Techniques and Endoscopy Surgery in Small Animals (PGCert VEaMIS).
He moved to the UK in August 2020 and since then he completed one rotating internship and one surgical internship at 2 leading hospitals in the South of UK. Diego joined us at Vets Now Glasgow in Summer 2022 to begin his ECVS surgery residency programme. Diego enjoys all aspects of surgery with particular interest in fractures, oncology surgery and minimal invasion surgery
