An update on Covid-19 from Vets Now

Dear colleagues in the vet profession

We realise this is a hugely worrying time for everyone, and that your number one priority, outside of your family and friends, is your fellow staff, your patients and their owners.

We want to reassure you that we share the same values – and we’re committed to looking after the health, wellbeing and safety of all of our people and the partner practices who use our services.

Social distancing and infection prevention

As the country’s leading provider of out-of-hours emergency and critical care, it is our responsibility to be pioneers and actively work to prevent and control infections.

Over the past few weeks, as the coronavirus has spread, we’ve taken a series of steps to reduce the risk of virus transmission. These include:

• Asking pet owners to bring their pets into our clinics and hospitals alone, where feasible, to minimise the number of people in our waiting rooms.
• Advising pet owners who are in self-isolation or at high risk of infection (elderly, pregnant woman, pre-existing health conditions) to arrange for a family member or friend to bring their pet in.
• Directing all clients to wash or sanitise their hands on arrival.
• Recommending all payments be made by card rather than cash.
• Regularly checking and adhering to the latest advice from the UK Government, RCVS, World Veterinary Association, and the devolved administrations.

Please be reassured that we have every intention of remaining open throughout this challenging period, but should for any reason it be recommended that we do have to close a clinic, then we will revert to our usual emergency contingency plan in order to offer our service from another Vets Now, or from another local practice.

CPD events

It is with great regret that in light of recent UK Government advice relating to large groups of people, we’ve made the decision to postpone our ECC Bitesize roadshow events in Maidstone, Bristol, Milton Keynes, Basingstoke, Dundee and Belfast.

We’re working hard with our speakers, sponsors and venues to bring you alternative dates. You can find further information here.

We appreciate these are uncertain times and that everyone in the profession is working flat out in difficult circumstances, but please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.
