Amanda Boag said there had been a mood of excitement in the run-up to the event, which is being held in the Majestic Hotel and is partly focusing on toxicology as well as health and wellbeing within the veterinary profession.

She added: “Our mission is to bring some of the world’s leading ECC specialists together with vet professionals from the UK and beyond to exchange experiences and findings and debate the latest developments in the discipline.

“We have a fantastic list of speakers this year and there is something for everyone in the lecture programme. ECC is a discipline that’s constantly evolving and we’re committed to developing our programme to meet the needs of our growing audience.”

The ECC Congress was set up by Vets Now in 2004 to provide innovative training to the veterinary profession.

It’s grown into one of the biggest events of its kind in the world – with 700 delegates and almost 40 exhibitors due to attend.

The conference features three lecture streams – beyond the basics, core and wellbeing – as well as a range of practical workshops led by veterinary experts such as Louise O’Dwyer and Jennifer Devey.

Overall there’s a choice of more than 50 hours of diverse and innovative CPD at the event.

Congress is supported by main sponsor Woodley Equipment Company Ltd and media partners Vet Times. Other sponsors include Idexx Laboratories, Boehringer Ingelheim, Zoetis and Abaxis.

The Congress app is sponsored by Abaxis.

Next year’s event – the 16th ECC UK Annual Congress – will take place on 7 and 8 November 2019 at a new venue to be announced as this year’s conference comes to a close.
