We are all Vets Now
Aoife Reid
Head of Edge Programmes"There's lots of satisfaction to be gained from managing emergency cases, both medically and surgically. It's difficult to get this in daytime practice and we've designed our Edge programmes specifically to ease the transition. All vets have strong caring and responsibility values, but we're also looking for people who are keen to help others and progress themselves, so they're motivated to learn and to share those learnings. However, underpinning all of this is our vets must be strong, empathetic communicators, as emergency situations are often a time of great stress for the pet owner.”

Veterinary SurgeonI like the culture and I love the fact there's always someone around to help, even at 2 am. It also helps that I'm part of an amazing team in Reading. I'm so proud to work with such great people, it's almost like finding a family. There are no ranks, no hierarchy, we're all in it together.

Veterinary SurgeonUsually there's a trade-off between having more money and having more time but working in the UK and living in Spain has really allowed me to enjoy the financial advantages of higher wages while still having great work-life balance.

Veterinary SurgeonThe variety is a great perk of ECC. You get to do a little bit of internal medicine, a little bit of surgery, a little bit of neurology. And I love the faster pace, and the fact that you work with a smaller team. You get really close with your teammates. And In terms of work-life balance, the flexibility is great.
I like having the days to myself. I don't really need to sleep much, I never have. So I love that I can work and still have loads of time to myself for other things; reading, cooking, yoga, hiking, I can do everything. I don't have to sacrifice.
