Our Covid-19 safety measures are in place to ensure our clinics and hospitals are safe for you, your pets and our staff
Dear pet owner,
Since the beginning of the Covid pandemic, we’ve committed to keeping you, your pets and our people safe under hugely challenging circumstances.
This has meant opening our pet emergency clinics and hospitals throughout the coronavirus pandemic to ensure our vets and vet nurses could be there for you when you needed us most, while also putting in place a series of precautions to reduce the risk of virus transmission.
We want to reassure you that – now we’re entering a new phase in the battle against Covid-19 – we’ll continue to be here for you.
But in order to ensure the best care for your pets while at the same time keeping everyone safe, we’ll continue to take additional precautionary steps, even though most legal restrictions have been eased, including:
- Asking you to call us first rather than turning up unannounced
- Reducing access to our clinics while ensuring you are given the opportunity to meet the vet who’ll be treating your pet
- Sometimes asking you to wait in your car with your pet until called
- Asking you to wear a mask when entering our clinic unless you are exempt
The main reason for these additional measures is to keep you, your pet and our teams safe so that we can continue to care for those who need us most.
Since the pandemic began pet ownership in the UK has soared by almost 50%, with the dog population rising from 9.5m to 12.5m and the cat population going up from 7.5m to 12.2m. This has put unprecedented pressure on veterinary practices across the country and there simply isn’t enough vets and vet nurses to meet the rise in demand this has caused.
As such, it’s vitally important we do everything we can to protect our staff from being exposed to Covid-19.
It’s clear Covid-19 remains a threat but whatever lies ahead, we’ll continue to be here for you and your pets at the time you need us most and we’ll continue to put the health and safety of you, your pet and our staff above all else.
